A large number of military veterans, family members, and people on the front lines of the veteran homelessness crisis are mourning the passing of a beloved service dog today.

Gold Coast Veterans Foundation (GCVF), the groundbreaking nonprofit that rescues and repairs the lives of homeless and high-risk veterans, is announcing the launch of a new program on Veterans Day, expanding a critical service for homeless veterans in the process. The Camarillo organization is both the first and last line of defense in the battle against veteran homelessness, with over 250 high-risk veteran rescues since 2020, as well as a full range of services provided for thousands of other low- and medium-risk Ventura County veterans.

It’s been almost a year since the passing of legendary Dodger baseball announcer Vin Scully, a former Navy veteran and strong advocate of the Ventura County nonprofit Gold Coast Veterans Foundation. The beloved Dodger announcer and true patriot was the voice of Gold Coast Veterans Foundation. This year, as we celebrate July 4th, America’s Independence Day, we will again hear Scully’s famous voice that has so moved military veterans, government officials, and local business owners.
