Honoring All Those Who Paid the Ultimate Sacrifice

Memorial Day is a federally-observed holiday to honor the men and women of our U.S. military who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

We are grateful for their actions and keep their family members and their sacrifices in our prayers.

We have compiled many of the Memorial Day 2023 ceremonies and observances taking place across Ventura County as an opportunity to pay homage to those who have fallen.

Memorial Day Ceremonies and Observances

Camarillo - Memorial Day Ceremony

For the first time since 2019, theĀ Conejo Mountain Funeral Home will host its Memorial Day ceremony. Live music, several guest speakers, displays of military memorabilia, and free food will all be part of this opportunity to honor our military heroes. The program begins at 11:00 a.m.

Moorpark - Field of Valor

Moorpark Morning Rotary Club will hold its annual Field of Valor throughout the day at Tierra Rejada Park.

Flags are proudly displayed in honor/memory of a friend or family member who served in the Armed Forces.

Food and kids’ activities (including a face painting starting at 12 noon) are available throughout the day.

A $40 donation will allow you to register a flag in honor of a veteran(s). To purchase and register a flag, visit moorparkfieldofvalor.org.

Event Schedule

  • 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Viewing of Flags with accompanying patriotic music by various artists
  • 1:00 p.m.: Opening Ceremony with a flag processional and color guard
  • 1:15 p.m.: Presentation of the Flags, Honoring Fallen Veterans, and Guest Speakers
  • 4:00 p.m.: Closing Ceremony

Moorpark - Veterans Memorial

The City of Moorpark and American Legion Moorpark Post 502 will hold their joint annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:00 a.m. at the city’s Veterans Memorial.

Ojai - Memorial Day 2023

Memorial Day Ventura County

VFW Post 11461 will hold its Memorial Day event across several locations in Ojai on Memorial Day.

Oxnard - Memorial Day Mass

Santa Clara Cemetery & Mortuary will hold its annual Memorial Day Mass at 10:00 a.m.

Guests have the option of attending either in person or virtually via livestream on the Cemetery’s Facebook page.

Oxnard - Memorial Day Ceremony

Memorial Day Ventura County

The City of Oxnard will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. at its Veterans Memorial in Plaza Park.

Vietnam Veterans of Ventura County will present its Color Guard at this ceremony.

Santa Paula - Memorial Day Ceremony

Pierce Brothers – Santa Paula Cemetery and VFW Post 2043 – Mercer-Prieto will hold their joint annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:30 a.m.

Guests are encouraged to arrive by 10:00 a.m. ahead of a musical prelude at 10:15 a.m.

Simi Valley - Memorial Day Remembrance Event

TheĀ Reagan Library will hold its Memorial Day event to honor the fallen men and women of our U.S. Military.

Live musical entertainment, which begins at 9:00 a.m., includes the L.A. County Sheriff Band and Harpist veteran Thomas Baker.

The program begins at 10:00 with several keynote speakers.

This event is free and will take place by the Reagan Library’s Gold Star Family Memorial. Admission fees still apply if you wish to visit the Reagan Museum, Air Force One Pavilion, and their ongoing Auschwitz Exhibit.

Westlake Village - Memorial Day Ceremony

Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park will hold its 33rd annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 11:00 a.m.

The public is also invited to assist local Boy Scout troops on Saturday, May 27th at 10:00 a.m. to place U.S. flags on the graves of veterans resting at this cemetery.
